godputasmileuponemyface: Great friends since 1989, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire will act together in “The Great Gatsby” by Baz Luhrmann. The movie will be presented at the 66th Cannes Film Festival the next 15th May. They met each other in the late 80’s, at the auditions (for the same role, besides) of “Parenthood”, a television series based upon Ron Howard’s movie, the pair struck up a fast friendship and made an informal pact to help each other get parts in their movies/TV shows/other projects.Actually, when Leonardo got the role, Tobey subsequentially did a cameo in the series.The same happened in 1993, when Leo obtained the role in “This Boy’s Life” and Tobey played one of his friends.After, there were some very bad years for Tobey (he bacame an alchol addict), and once everything passed he decided to not pursuit anymore the path he previously chose: he wanted to obtain roles where he and DiCaprio would not always be in competition for the same part.Meanwhile, they remain very good friends: it seems that Leo is Rubyìs godfather (Ruby is Tobey & Jen’s first born, who was born on November 10th 2006) and it is said that Leo was also best man at Tobey’s wedding in 2007.Besides Cinema, both Tobey and Leo are great fans of their home town basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
